trade show lingo pallet definition

Rebekah of Wild Ink Press brought up a hilarious comparison to our stationery / stationary frustrations in our alumni forum. She jokingly asked if the union guys hated when pallet and palette are misused. Quick spelling lesson:

Pallet – is a small wooden platform used to store, ship and move goods. They are often a cheaper alternative to shipping tradeshow materials in a crate, but the risk of damage can be higher than a crate. Fork lifts are required to move pallets.

Palette – thin board or flat surface used by painters to mix colors. It also refers to a range of colors used by an artist. Who doesn’t love a good color palette?
